Writing thoughts

I feel like I'm finally making some progress with my IY AtLA AU fic. Taking a break from most other social media has definitely helped me to focus on writing.

So far, I've got rough drafts of the prologue, chapter 2 and chapter 3. Chapter 1 is still being written because I take even longer if I try writing things in chronological order. :p I'm still tweaking the outline but I've at least got a rough idea of where all this is going.

Then again, the first couple of chapters of Echoes took an absolute age and I still managed to stay on top of updates for the most part once I lost my head start. I think it just takes me a long time to plan things out. Unfortunately, I'm the kind of writer who struggles to write so much as a drabble without an outline.

Ramblings aside, I'm very keen to start posting once I've got the first few chapters ironed out. I've really wanted to write a fic about the relationship between Kagome and Kikyou for donkey's years and this is a great opportunity to do that. Of course, there will be plenty of opportunities to expand on other things that I wish had received more attention in canon, as well as more ladies being awesome and some Inu/Kag romance. Possibly some other romances too because Kagura and Byakuya flat-out refuse to be straight whenever I write them and I'd rather not have the only LGBT+ characters be villains. Plus it's mostly about the main cast so it might get a few more comments than my previous attempt at a long fic. :p

I might as well put the rough draft of the prologue up here, even though it's going to be re-written and DW is still a bit of a ghost town these days. Maybe I should try posting my fanart to a couple of comms to see if I can garner any interest....

 ...good grief, I could really do with some new icons. ^^; Anyhow, here's the aforementioned abstract. No title (yet), very basic summary. At least it's a full chapter prologue?

 

 

Fifty years after the Avatar’s disappearance, Kagome is faced with the task of restoring balance to the world.

 

Fandom: Inuyasha - Avatar the Last Airbender AU

 

Rating: PG-13/T 

 

Content warnings: Canon-level violence (Inuyasha), major character death, mentions of death and injury to minors.

 

There’s also some bloodbending (perhaps best described as a mix of body horror and torture) involved.

 

 

Characters/pairings: Just Kikyou, Onigumo and Kaede for now. Some implied Onigumo > Kikyou (unrequited)

 

This will be an Inu/Kag fic but they haven’t showed up yet. (It’s fifty years too early for that. :p)

 

 

Any feedback is welcome - positive or negative - so long as it’s honest and constructive. 

 

I'm planning to re-write this scene from the ground up once I've finished the rough draft of chapter 1. For now, here's the early draft.
