He woke to the crack of ice. A thin beam of lantern light and a soft mutter dashed his hopes of a full night's sleep. Just what he needed: more visitors. Even a backwater like this must have better shit to do. He squinted a glare through the bars.
 

His nose made out the newcomer before his eyes: a woman swathed in feathers and fur. Her own scent was almost drowned by the reek of incense. Another gawker from the temple. As if the Avatar hadn't pestered him enough. He leaned back against his chains and settled into a determined silence...
